The Additive Turbulent Decomposition for the Two-Dimensional Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations: Convergence Theorems and Error Estimates

چکیده
The additive turbulent decomposition (ATD) method is a computational scheme for solving the Navier–Stokes equations and related nonlinear dissipative evolution equations. It involves a decomposition of the Navier–Stokes equation into equations for largeand small-scale components similar in spirit, but different in details, to the nonlinear Galerkin methods proposed by Temam and coworkers. In this paper, we consider the ATD method as applied to the two-dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equation on a bounded domain. We model the corresponding ATD equations by a coupled system of nonlinear differential equations, and obtain convergence and error estimates. The error estimates for the ATD method are comparable to those for the linear Galerkin method. We show how to modify the ATD method to obtain a scheme for which the convergence estimates are similar to those of the first nonlinear Galerkin method.

Turbulent Flow over Cars
In this paper the flow behaviour over a number of car bodies is studied. For this purpose the unsteady 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been applied. After averaging and nondimensionalizing the equations, the system of equations has been transformed from the Cartesian (x-y) coordinates to a body fitted generalized (-) coordinate. As the flow is incompressible, the density in the ...
متن کاملConvergence of a Navier-stokes-poisson Approximation of the Incompressible Navier-stokes Equations
This paper studies the quasi-neutral limit of pressureless Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations in plasma physics in the torus T. For well prepared initial data the convergence of solutions of compressible Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations to the solutions of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is justified rigorously by using the curl-div decomposition of the gradient. And a priori estimates with ...
متن کاملFlow Analysis Heat and Mass Transfer in a Room
This reports the study on the flow behaviour, heat transfer and contamination distribution in a room. For this purpose the 3-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, energy equation and a mass transfer equation which model the concentration of contamination have been applied. For turbulence simulation the two equation standard k- turbulence model was employed. By means of SIMPLE algorithm the...
متن کاملExtension theorems for Stokes and Lamé equations for nearly incompressible media and their applications to numerical solution of problems with highly discontinuous coefficients
We prove extension theorems in the norms described by Stokes and Lamé operators for the three-dimensional case with periodic boundary conditions. For the Lamé equations, we show that the extension theorem holds for nearly incompressible media, but may fail in the opposite limit, i.e. for case of absolutely compressible media. We study carefully the latter case and associate it with the Cosserat...
متن کاملThe incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on non-compact manifolds
We shall prove dispersive and smoothing estimates for Bochner type laplacians on some non-compact Riemannian manifolds with negative Ricci curvature, in particular on hyperbolic spaces. These estimates will be used to prove Fujita-Kato type theorems for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. We shall also discuss the uniqueness of Leray weak solutions in the two dimensional case.
